Hello All-  I have all of the links for Captivate and Captivate Prime, but is there a succinct document or explanation that clarifies the difference between who/why someone would use Captivate vs Captivate Prime or vice/versa?

Thank you!

Those are two totally different applications.

Adobe Captivate is a rapid eLearning authoring tool, allows you to create eLearning courses for any type of devices.

Captivate Prime is a Learning Management System (LMS): that is meant to manage user access, courses, tracking learner's progress, assessments etc.

Although you could use the eLearning courses created with Captivate by deploying them to an internal server, the best way is to use a LMS for deployment. There are quite a lot of LMS's around, Captivate Prime is one of them, very recent and with easy setup.

Right, so, does captivate come with captivate prime or do you have to license it separately and then use prime to manage your learners (assuming you choose prime as your LMS)?

It is a separate license.  Have a look at:

Adobe Captivate Prime - Buying Guide

You can also google for comparison between LMS's. Lot, also the cost,  depends on the number of  'students' you have to manage.
