Question

Can sound levels be altered later?

I have recorded narration in a project, mainly hooking the sound recordings to different objects and text. I now want to change the general sound setting, as the Captivate-decided Pre-amplifier value of 0.4 is really too low.

Is there any way to change all those settings without having to re-record narration, or having to change the sound clips individually?

I am using Captivate 5.5.

Hi NilsFinkendk

Suggest you wait for the experts that follow this forum to provide you with the definitive reply, but as a v5.5 user I can add this.

Open your project, got to Audio/Edit/Project and when you get to the Slides Audio panel, and from there you can make changes to the audio.

However I am not experienced in this area so let's see what the experts say as to what exactly to need to do to meet your request.

Thanks, Noel

The Edit bit of "Audio - Edit - Project" is greyed out, so I am unable to follow your suggestion. It just may have to do with the fact that this particular project does not have audio attached to slides.

Meanwhile I have found an acceptable solution with an extra benefit, as my audio clips are generally tied to objects:

Right-click on the object with audio, choose Audio and then Edit, click on the Adjust Volume button, tick the Normalize option (instead of the "None" I used before). Now the narration volume seems fine.

The benefit? Oh, I also trimmed unnecessary silence, making for less of a wait for the user.

Screendumps to follow...

Hi Nils,

Sounds like the procedure  you have applied is exactly the same as you could have done to individual slides (if there was audio attached) or the whole projects (i.e. all slides).

I assume as all you audio is attached to individual objects there is no "all objects" option when it comes to editing audio - you have to do one object at a time. But at least you have a solution.
