Can't close 360-degree hotspots in published file

When I publish a 360-degree virtual project, i click on the index.html file.  It opens in Microsoft Edge (does not work in Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer) to a white screen and a play icon.  I click the play icon and everything looks great.  I click on any one of the many hotspots (info or graphic) and they pop up.  

Problem is, there is no longer the close box "X" that was there in the preview and there is no way to close the pop up.  

I chatted with Adobe Captivate helpdesk for 3+ hours yesterday - no closer to a solution.  Has anyone else experience this?  If so, any luck?
