Question

Can you create a timed exam in captivate 13?

I have a client claiming Captivate 13 can create timed assessments. I think they are mixing up captivate classic and 13 as I have not found any means of adding a timer to a question pool.

The client wants us to build a 25 question exam, and if the user doesnt answer all the questions in 30 minutes, the user is taken to their score.

I dont think this is possible in captivate 13 but please let me know if there is a work around.

I would consider making two presentations: one for the educational slides that links to the exam slides. Then you can set a time for the exam presentation.

(Also, check to see if your LMS can do this on its own.)

    Hi Stefanie,
Maybe you can propose to your client to setting an individual timer per question: 1,20 min.
Indeed, no global timer features seems to be integrate in this new version of Captivate.
I’ll check the possibility to develop an advanced action..
    Best regards,

If you are using SCORM, you can set the duration under the reporting area (available when publishing). If you click the SCORM configure link, you can set the duration. I would assume it is available under xAPI but probably set on the LMS.

I see duration but it is really unclear what this impacts. I also saw a time limit for each question….

I don’t think there is a way to time just the quiz other than per slide.
