Question

Cannot access widgets, cannot insert powerpoint slides, copy and paste of images not working properly from WORD

Hi

I've just downloaded and paid for Adobe Captivate 8 just over a week ago and working under some time pressure. A few annoying things are occurring:

1) I can't import and powerpoint slides (the option is greyed out in the menu)

2) I can't access any of the widgets (the widgets are all greyed out after I choose "Insert Widget" option)

3) There is a strange thing happening when I go to paste a table from WORD - it pastes the table with a massive amount of white space to the right. So that when I reduce the image the table becomes unreadable

Help is much appreciated. I hope this is just early teething issues or my limited understanding of the finer points of the tool. So far it feels very restricting.

If you are on a responsive project, you cannot import Powerpoint slides, PPT is not responsive at all.

Do you run Captivate as administrator? If you are on a responsive project, only the learning interactions are HTML5 compatible, not the old widgets. You insert a learning interaction using the Interactions button on the BBB (Big Button Bar). You can use Insert, Widget, but will have to browse to the appropriate folder in Public documents. For Windows the path is:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Interactions_8_0

You cannot keep formatting with Copy/paste from any application. For a table, either convert it to an image and insert the image, or use the Table interaction (see higher for inserting it).

Thanks for that - ok understood.

Just a couple of things:

1) how do I know whether I am running it as an administrator or not?

2) that path you supplied me below for the other widgets, can you give me an equivalent for a Mac?

Thanks again

Sorry, I never used a Mac, cannot help you with those questions.

The interactions folder, contrary to the old widgets folder which is only in the Gallery, has a work copy somewhere in a accessible public folder. The Gallery is a folder in the installation folder and not everyone has access to it.

Did you try to insert an interaction with the button 'Interactions' from the BBB? Normally it should be set by default to the correct folder I was talking about (public folder). More information about interactions:
