Cannot Import Complete Powerpoint 2010 File Into Captivate 8

I have tried multiple times and have gone through the issue with our company IT department. We have uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate 8.  They have also given me local administrator privileges so that both Captivate and PowerPoint are run with administrator mode.

The issue is that when I try to do a high-fidelity import from my powerpoint project (only 12 slides with animations), Captivate gets hung up at 59% every time. It will let me import if there are only two slides, but when I try to add extra slides and update the Captivate file, it gets hung up at 10% when updating the file.

This occurs whether I link to the PPT file or not.  I am importing from my C drive as it would not allow me to import from the network drive.

My company laptop has plenty of RAM, CPU power, and ROM. It will import if high fidelity is not selected.  This also occurs with any size height and width and whether maintain aspect ratio is selected or not.

Such a huge waste of time creating the PPT since it seems I must now recreate all from scratch in Captivate.

Are there any suggestions?  I am just glad it is not a huge module I am creating, but what is the sense of being able to import from PPT if it doesn't work properly?

Thanks in advance for help.

You may find it simpler to treat PPT as you would any other application. Ignore the fact Captivate can "import" it and simply record it using Captivate as it plays on your screen.

Thank you, Rick. I will try this and see how it looks. I also want to add some speech to text with that, so it all may end up working better from scratch anyway in the long run.

    Thanks again.

Try saving your PowerPoint deck as an earlier version PPT instead of a PPTX. That usually helps with the import.

Also, although you mention that you have Administrator privileges for Captivate, this is not the same as setting Captivate to launch with Run As Administrator privilege.  So if you haven't as yet done that please do so.  You should also try setting PowerPoint to use Run as Administrator privilege when launching.  Having both programs on the same setting can also help.
