Question

Cannot Import XML

Hello,

I'm using Captivate 6 on a Mac (OS 10.7.5) and cannot import an XML.

Eventually I would like to be able to import an existing QML library into my project, but I cannot even import an XML that is created by Captivate. I made a small 2 question project that I exported as an XML file. When I create a blank project, and use File>Import>From XML..., then open the XML I just exported, I get an error reading "Cannot Import XML". What am I doing wrong? Does Captivate 6 support QTI?

Thanks.

Hi there

I'm not sure what "QTI" may be, but it's my own understanding that the XML export/import is for the purposes of localization. You export the XML, hand it off to a translation company and they massage it. They hand it back to you all nice and translated and you import it back into Captivate.

Then again, perhaps the feature is broken. One might assume that Captivate would allow importing of an XML it just created.

Hopefully one of the Captivate developers will pop in with an explanation.

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick,

Thank you for your reply. QTI is a specification for packaging question content for an LMS. It was created to allow developers to exchange quiz and question data between software without having to re-create questions every time software is upgraded. I suppose you could think of it as HTML for quizzes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QTI

I have a database of about 300 questions that needs to be imported, but it is in an XML document using Questions Markup Language.

As far is importing an XML generated by Captivate, it's possible I'm doing something wrong, or perhaps I've run into another 6.0 bug.

Thanks again for your time Rick.

Best wishes,

Julia

This is obviously a very important feature and fortunately Adobe Captivate 7 support GIFT. However, I really would like to see Adobe Captivate Support IMS QTI v1.2 and higher such as IMS QTI v2 and up.
