Cannot open a Captivate 7 file with Captivate 8

I have a file I created in December before I upgraded from 7 to 8 and it has been published to our LMS, working fine.   I need to make some edits to it and the file will not open.  My cache files only date back to January of this year, but file was last edited December 2014..  (no idea where the old cache files went?)   I have the files I published to the LMS, can I somehow make a cptx file from those?  Or does anyone know how I can get this to work?  (unfortunately I didn't know about/didn't turn on the backup feature until a couple months after I last touched this project..so a BAK file does not exist.)

The file starts to extract and then I get this message (have tried both on and off the network drive):

No you cannot generate a CPTX from the published files.

It sounds like you did not have Backups switched on, right?  Otherwise you should be able to open the backup file and get access from the previous save.
