Cannot open a Captivate 8 file, but my colleague can

A colleague created a file using Captivate 9 and loaded that file into a shared cloud folder.  When I download the file, I get an error message saying it cannot open the file listing a number of reasons: file may be corrupt, file may already be open, my computer may not have enough disk space, etc. (it doesn't really specify, and these are all very different reasons).  How do I troubleshoot this so I can open the file?  Is the problem that I have v8 and she used v9 to create it?

    Yeppers! While newer versions of Captivate can generally open older projects (to a limit) there has never been any ability for an older version to open one that was created or touched by a newer version.
