Question

Cannot see most slides in Branching view

I've created a branching quiz, where there are 2 quizzes with 15 questions each from the first page.  I've assigned the last slide in each quiz to jump to the Quiz Results slide, however, the progress bar is numbering the questions 1 through 30.

So I'd think I should be able to fix this in the Branching View, but I can only see my Home slide leading to the two Intro slides for each quiz, and then to a "How it Works" Page.  I have 40 slides in my project, so why aren't they showing up in Branching view?  Also, they are NOT in the bottom drop-down of the Branching view, I checked there.

BTW, I am using the latest trial version of Captivate.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I missed in your question if you marked Branch aware in the Quiz settings? Recently I blogged about a Branch aware Quiz: Branch Aware Quiz - Captivate blog

In that example I just double-checked the branching view (which has no real utility here) and I can see all the branches of this quiz (had 3) but just in sequence. Maybe you didn't check 'Branch aware' because you cannot see them?

As for the quizzing system variables, some of them like cpQuizInfoTotalQuestionPerProject take into account all the questions and scored objects in a project, even with Branch aware. In the example of the blog post, you'll see that system variables with others of that category that do well adapt to the branches. Good news is that the score, percentage and correct answers will show perfectly on the score slide. The progress indicator if you use the relative version will not show correctly the total number of questions. Another, older blog post, explains how you can create a custom progress indicator: Customized Progress Indicator - Captivate blog

The reason for that log post is no longer valid: since two versions you can localize the progress indicator, it is in the Default Labels under Quiz Preferences.

You won't be fixing this slide numbering issue in Branching View because it's a known issue with Captivate.  Even when you mark some quiz questions as NOT reporting to the quiz, the progressive numbering variables still count those questions as being part of the quiz.  At this time, the fix is to replace the default numbering variables with your own using.
