Question

Hi Everybody,

I am a beginner in Captivate. I want the slides to be switched manually by the user with a button. But, slides are always switching (next slide) when clicked anywere, at least twice. Also buttons do not work properly, instead slides are switching, like there would be a hidden button or click box overall the slides, but I cant see any.

Can someone help, please?

Thx a lot.

Thx a lot. In the end, the "problem" stopped, when I made this project out of the blank, instead of an PPT.
Its a little bit more work now, but maybe the better way, anyway.

    TY!

That was my first question: did you create from PPT slides, but you didn't answer to any question.$

If you import PPT slides and take out automatic advancing, you get a click box on top of each slide (which you could have seen.... again .... in that very important timeline).

As a moderator I took out your question which you marked as being correct, because that wouldn't have helped any future user. The idea of a public forum is that future visitors can search for problems similar to their problem.  Just a tip to explain why I took the mention 'correct answer' out. There is none at this moment to the original question.  You tell that the problem 'stopped' with a workaround which is not really a workaround. Please, you really need to do or take some basic training or you willl keep bumping your head and imagine workarounds which are no workarounds.

How did you create the slides? Perhaps you used Powerpoint Import?

If you want the eLearning project to behave like  a presentation, pausing at the end of each slide and waiting for a click on the play button of the playbar, add a shape button to the main master slide. Hide it for the learner by setting its Alpha and Stroke to 0. Set the action to 'No action'. It will now pause each slide at its end. It is to preferred over setting the Ext action of slides to Pause, because that scenario could be messed up in some circumstances.

Have a look at the firs tip in this blog:

I have a lot more TImeline blogs, here is the most important one:

I would highly recommend you find some way to get some basic Captivate training.  As you have said, you are a beginner, and that means there are any number of things about Captivate that you will not understand.

One area that you can start with is the Captivate timeline.  Until you understand how the timeline works, you will not be able to control it.  The behaviours you have described in your question indicate that you do not understand how interactive objects such as buttons or click boxes work in Captivate; how they pause the timeline, how when clicked they will cause the timeline to continue, or how to set their Actions so that they do what you want.

All of this information is freely available in the Captivate HELP files as well as from various YouTube videos and websites.  This User Forum isn't really a training course.  Training is what you really need right now.
