Question

Cap 3 and Oracle OLM

Good Day All,

I'm looking for any information/ideas anyone may have regarding Captivate 3 and SCORM.

Using Oracle OLM as an LMS - would I need a SCORM adapter to make Cap 3 CBTs work?

another team is publishing using Flash and insists that I will need an adapter (they were the first horse to the trough)

I have to admit being at the edge of my technical knowledge on this.

Thank you for the answers - it appears that my content is running on OLM just fine - now it is a matter of convincing everyone that the suspend data field is right even though it isn't in clear text. LOL but that is my problem

thank you again

As reported by Robbie - Oracle does require its own XSD files for importing
SCORM-based content into OLM (also mentioned in my article on Output Options
in Captivate - SCORM:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/output_scorm_04.html#lms_issues).
AICC also works, but you'll probably need to workaround an issue where
Oracle hosts the content on a different domain than the LMS. I have a copy
of the XSD files, if you need them - you can contact me off-list at: Andrew
AT LearningConsulting DOT com.

If you are using Oracle hosted, there is a way to modify the AICC.htm file
to make Oracle think the content is on the same domain as the LMS, since you
might not be able to convince Oracle to host the crossdomain.xml file on the
root of the LMS server. This is documented, somewhat, on my old article on
Output Options in Captivate - AICC:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/output_aicc.html.
Specifically, the Oracle/AICC issue is mentioned here:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/output_aicc_04.html#lbsi

Regards,

Andrew

Hi Langer

by pure coincidence I am just in the process of testing cp3 and Oracle OLM. The good news is that Oracle does support SCORM; ensure that you publish correctly, set your preferences correctly, and Oracle will indeed play all cp3 movies.

The first bit of bad news is that the SCORM xsd files generated by cp have to be replaced with Oracle xsd files - it appears that, in the world of Oracle, there is SCORM 1.2 and then there is SCORM 1.2.

The next bit of bad news is that I'm not sure how true an LMS that the OLM is..... We're having some interesting times trying to get tracking info from the OLM - which is the reason to use an LMS after all!

Happy to share any info we get - hope you feel the same

Absolutely.
If you look at the Quiz Preferences, you can see the reporting options.
Unless OLM supports any of those natively (SCORM, AICC) then you'll need
this 'SCORM adapter' for the OLM.
