Cap 8 - Browser Not Supporting Content Error Message

Hello,

I have read a strand where Cap 7 App Packager was causing a browser error message. The strand indicated the fix was to enter SuppressIncompatibleBrowserMessage = 1 in the AdobeCaptivate.ini file. I understand that placing this inside the .ini file will change how a course is wrapped/packaged and that the error message will no longer occur. The problem I'm having now is that I'm using Captivate 8 and I am unable to find an AdobeCaptivate.ini file. I've completed a manual search and a search using Windows' search function. It does not seem to exist. Sooo, could someone please tell me if there is a similar fix for Captivate 8 and how I can resolve the issue so that the error message "This browser does not support some of the content in the file you are trying to use. Use one of the following browsers: . . . "  Thanks!!!

On W8 it should be located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 8 x64

It wont say AdobeCaptivate.ini. It will say AdobeCaptivate and the file type is Configuration Settings which is the ,ini. If you right click > Properties, you will see its the .ini file

If its not there , then search the Program files (x86) directory for the Adobe > Adobe Captivate 8 x86

I do not have W8. I have W7 at work. I do see that file that actually has the SuppressIncompatibleBrowser line. I can change the number, but it won't allow me to save. Seem to remember someone else having the same save issue.

I'm going to post a solution to my own question - for those who may be looking for the solution. This is not a pretty solution - maybe someone else can devise a better option, but here goes.

  • Once you publish your file, extract/unzip the file.
  • Go to assets/js.
  • Open the CPM file in notepad.
  • Search for: This.BrowserEnum.FIREFOX=2
  • Change the 2 to a 3 (which is the enumeration for CHROME)
  • Save the file and close it.
  • Rezip the files (Tip for those that may not know, you must zip all the folders/files from the level that the "assets" folder is in. Depending on your file, it may tell you it isn't able to zip folders that are empty. This is okay. Take your zipped folder, which should now have the same name as one of the folders/files that you were attempting to zip and rename the zip folder. You should now be able to load it to you LMS and not have that error message).
