Cap5: What behavior should I expect from "Pause slide till end of video"?

Perhaps I don't understand what "Pause slide till end of video" does when I have a progressive download FLV on the stage.

I've got a simple "hi there" talking head on a slide to help explain what the learner is going to see during the project.  No interaction.

If I understand correctly, Captivate's preloaders don't take FLV into account, so to ensure an FLV plays all the way thru, if I set the video to be displayed to "rest of slide" and check the "Pause slide till..." box, that the slide would wait till the FLV completes before advancing to the next slide.

Am I wrong?  Because that's not what I am experiencing.  Slide remains paused after the video concludes.

Welcome to our community

Personally, I've seen this setting fail on a number of occasions. I've never discovered why or how to prevent it.

You really should have no need to enable the "Rest of slide" option for the video.

Here is how I understand it to work as well as a theoretical explanation for why it exists. (assuming, of course, that I myself am understanding the setting properly)

Perhaps you have a video clip that plays for 30 seconds. Perhaps you insert that clip onto a slide that is timed for one second. Without the setting, we might be forced to calculate how long the video clip is, then time the slide accordingly. But with the setting present as well as enabled, we can then leave the slide timed for one second, then place the video on it. The slide will then simply pause until the video completes, then move on.

Again, I've seen it fail on a number of occasions. So it's probably a bit quirky.

Cheers... Rick
