Question

Captivate 10?

I have been a Captivate user since version 2 and have grown used to Adobe upgrading their versions of Captivate each year. This year, however, I have not seen or heard any mention of Captivate 10. I was wondering, has Captivate reached the point from which there are not any more major features to add to it? Or, is Adobe in the process of bringing Captivate completely into the cloud and ending all hard copy versions?

Any ideas?

Hi Darin,

You are correct that it has been an interesting and somewhat different year for us related to Captivate releases. This year we had several free releases (updates) to Captivate developers. We have actually done several incremental updates - and introduced a pretty large subset of new features. Our most recent update included a very cool enhancement to the free assets marketplace, integration of Adobe Stock and added the new eLearning community feature. (elearning.adobe.com)

We also expanded the power of mobile responsive editing by adding more breakpoints, facilitating interactive-responsive drag and drop and the all new responsive animation and effects menu with live preview and dynamic-responsive motion path animation.

Your question of course is, what are we up to now...

A great question. Every year at the Adobe Learning Summit I share a sneak of 'what's coming?' to give the eLearning community a heads up about the amazing features and products in the Adobe eLearning ecosystem. This November we'll all gather again in Las Vegas for the Adobe Learning Summit, and share in this very cool 'sneak peek' tradition. Until then ... my lips are sealed.

IMHO, I doubt that you have to fear Captivate 10 will be cloud only.

As of Cp9, Captivate still isn't a 'Creative Cloud' application, nor are (m)any Creative Cloud features activated.

That said, it is my humble opinion. I'd welcome Adobe to prove me wrong in their next release.
