Captivate 12.2 and Windows 11 - unable to publish or preview

When I preview from Captivate 12.2, it only loads an empty browser tab. I've tried with Chrome and with Edge.

When I publish and launch, the same thing happens. Empty browser tab. Same behavior after I upload the published output to my web server.

No error messages have been generated.

This is a brand new install of Windows 11 and a brand new install of Captivate 12.2.

Any ideas what might cause this??

This is my first project in the new Captivate, but I do know that I would at least get the "Preview" to load when I was playing around and getting to know the new product - on a completely different setup (Windows 10) and the earlier version of Captivate 12.

I would try to create a very simple file with just a text object on a single slide. Does that preview?

If you can open up the browser debug tools (typically on Windows, you can click in any white space of that browser window and press <Ctrl> + <Shift> + I to open the browser debug tools; or select the three dots and do the same (but each browser is different). If you open the browser debug tools, does it show any error in the Console tab?

I had the same issue, and after a lot of research, I found out that the cause was the THEME. It seems like if you change something in the theme after you already have a many slides, it breaks the preview link. I couldn't identify exactly what, but I'm sure it's in the theme file.
The workaround I found is: to recreate the theme file in a separate project, export, and then import in the broken project (make sure you delete the broken theme in the project after you import the new theme file).

Can you provide more detailed instructions for your workaround? I'm brand new to Captivate and want to make sure I'm exporting and importing correctly. Thank you.

Hello, for me I contacted my LMS. They informed me that stuck SCORM files are common issues and they were able to unlock it on thier side.  Turns out I was not properly exiting/completing the course by selecting the correct action on course exit.  The course was always set to resume where they left off, which was in this stuck status. In the SCORM settings make sure the exit condition is set properly or reach out to your LMS support.  I did end up also copying and pasting each slide into a new project before I found the reason and that also seemed to work as the LMS saw it as a new project and replaced the old stuck one.

It will publish but when run, it's just a blank slide.  Same if I use it in my LMS.

Can you upload the published ZIP file here?

My apologies for not being clear earlier, Lilybiri.

The publish runs, but nothing loads in the browser.  I can generate the .zip file, but I can't upload it here... file type is not supported.

It is bit of guessing now. I never had issues with OneDrive with previous versions of Captivate but it happened with version 12 on Win11.  Try to turn off Captivate projects synching with OneDrive. My first guess?

As you can see localhost is used for Preview.  It is also possible that there are troubles with that feature. Some firewalls can cause that.

Version 12 is installed on my Surface Pro which has two cameras. Version 12 had problems with them, had to disable one camera.

    Just some possibilities...

Forgot: Chrome and Edge should be fine, but can you clear Browser cache and cookies? Could bother the localhost binding.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, none of the actions helped.

I moved my Captivate files to a folder outside of OneDrive. I unplugged both of my camers, and cleared the cache and cookies. Same result.

Can you open one of the sample projects? If you can preview that project, we can be sure that it is not due to a problem with Localhost. I asked ChatGPT about localhost issues, and there are a multitude of possible causes but it is better to localise the exact cause.

Normal troubleshooting is also to clear the Captivate cache (is that one also outside of Onedrive?) and clean the Preferences. For the last one: find the subfolder 'utils' under the installation folder and run 'CleanPreferencesWin.bat' while Captivate is closed.
