Captivate 12 - Duplicate "Click anywhere or press 'y' to continue" in custom question slide

I am trying to create a custom question slide in Captivate 12 using an Image block and a Text Input block. I want to duplicate the normal functionality of the question slides so that it functions as close as possible to a normal question slide. I have managed to partially duplicate the "Caption" that provides feedback on a standard question slide by using a text box with different states which are triggered by the value in the input block etc. I have two things I would like to do that I can't figure out.

1. I can change the text, text color, text highlight color, etc. with the various states. But all states share the same background. Is there a way to alter the background color of this text block with states? Another way? I have played around with using the text highlighting and extra spaces and blank lines, it works, but it isn't very elegant, and it is nearly impossible to get everything lined up perfectly. I'm hoping there is a better way.

2. I would like to duplicate the "Click anywhere or press 'y' to continue" functionality to move to the next slide. Like I said above, I have the text box changing states correctly to show the direction, and I can set up an interaction to "click the image to continue" etc., but I can't figure out how to setup the "click anywhere" or "press 'y'".

Any help would be appreciated.
