Captivate 12 for new eLearning-environment?

Hello dear community,

I’m currently a bit puzzled with the new Captivate. I’ve recently changed companies to set up an e-learning environment there - I originally come from iSpring. I intended to switch to Captivate, and my understanding of the "capabilities" was based on Captivate Classic (as it is apparently now called).

However, I'm somewhat disappointed with the capabilities of Captivate 12, and I’m not sure if it’s really worth it. Can one simply rely on Captivate Classic to create learning content, or is the service for Classic going to be discontinued at some point? I don’t feel comfortable recommending Captivate to my company right now... and I’m leaning more towards Articulate.

Is it just my impression that the capabilities of Captivate 12 are significantly more limited due to its focus on responsiveness

You are correct that the current capabilities of Captivate 12 are far less than that of Captivate 2019.  Of even more concern is that the new Captivate has been in development since about 2018 but in all this time has failed to overshadow Cp 2019's functionality in any area other than its responsiveness. So, I feel your concern is perfectly understandable and many of us are struggling with similar questions.

Adobe has said that support for Captivate 2019 will be terminated completely by 2027, but support will have dwindled significantly even before that point.  Even now there is only one Adobe employee who chimes in at all to answer any questions on this forum. That's not good user support in my view.

If the new Captivate 12 does not look to be a good fit for your organisation, I would hesitate to recommend setting up your e-learning with Captivate 2019 given that it does not have a long shelf life.
