Captivate 12 Next button intermittently not working

I created a blank slide.

Added a slide video media block with a link to a public YouTube video

Added an Interactive component/button

Labeled the button Next, and set interaction on Click/Tap Go to Next Slide (yes there is a next slide).

 

I want this button to be hidden until after the video finishes. I have tried doing this two different ways and am experiencing the same intermittent problem both ways. I tested it myself and it worked, published it to ScormCloud and it worked, I published it to my LMS (Absorb) and it worked, rolled it out to everyone and 10-20 % of my users are experiencing a problem. When the video completes, the Next button appears as it should, but when you click it, nothing happens. I have had some users back up and reload the video and it works the second time, others that doesn't work.

 

The two ways I've tried, are:

1. In the timeline, just drag the button block to the right so that it doesn't appear until 5 seconds before the end of the slide.

2. In the button interaction click Hide during publish. Create a slide interaction of Show button at bookmark, with the bookmark located 5 seconds from the end of the slide.

 

Both methods, seem to produce the same results, the slide loads with no button showing, the video auto plays, and 5 seconds from the end, the button appears. Sometimes the button functions some sometimes it does not.

 

If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

      This might be a timing or buffering issue—especially with YouTube links, since some LMSs handle video events differently depending on browser or connection quality.

      Try using a hosted MP4 file instead; locally hosted media usually offers more reliable playback and tracking in LMS environments.

      I have found the bookmark option to be buggy and a combination of checkmark & button or drag the timeline to the end works.

      I get this issue when i duplicate slides with similar functionalities. Possible solutions:

      1. enable next button to show on publish using the eye icon next to properties. then use the on enter and on exit interations. i.e on enter hide and disable next_btn. then have a bookmark at 5 seconds before slide end. This bookmark interaction will enable and show next_btn. Then, on exit disable and hide next_btn.

       

      Recommendations:

      -Avoid using the timeline to reveal the button, instead, use bookmarks, to show/hide/enable the button.

      -Your second method is conflicting. Make sure the on enter, on exit and any slide interactions do not conflict with the button's interactions.

      -If you have duplicated many slides, before publishing; save the project, clear your cache, temp folders, and then publish it.

      Maybe try the JavaScript command to go to the next slide. I have no idea if this will work but it's worth a try.

        Thank you Paul - I really appreciate the speedy response. Unfortunately it hasn't worked. The Playbar next button also isn't working to move it on to the next slide - so it's almost like there is no next slide - even though there are another 8 slides after this one.

        I'm having the same issue- thought it was ready to go live and now the 'next' button/ 'go to next slide' interaction is not working on any of my slides.

        No ideas - but I'm having the same issue. 10 custom question slides all worked fine. Now the last 5 out of the 10 the next button is not working. Inserted a 'normal' blank slide with the next button configured in between the question slides (after q5, which worked the first time, and then hasn't since and now the q5 next button is no longer working. It's unuseable like this and my project needs to go live. :(. I've re-started, cleared cookie cache etc. Nada.
