Question

Captivate 2 "Not Responding"

I created part of an e-learning module. I save it and exited the program when I was not able to finish. When I later returned, I first opened Adobe Captivate 2 program. Then, I selected from the most recent projects the latest one that I had been working on. All that happened was that the (Windows Vista) cursor twirled around and around but never opened the project. I tried to click on the project name again, and that is when at the topic of the window I saw the "Adobe Captivate Not Responding" message appear. I hit the ctrl-alt-delete keys and closed the program. I then went to My Documents and simply doubled clicked on the Captivate project that I wanted to open but got the same result. I would GREATLY appreciate anyone's help in helping me open my in-process projects.

Thank you very much!
Dean

    Hi Dean

Ouch. Big ouch. Captivate 3 is the only version that works on the Vista platform. I'm not sure if upgrading to Captivate 3 is an option for you. You may wish to download and install the trial and see if it will open the project. If not, unfortunately it's probably time to start over.

Before giving up totally, you may wish to try creating a totally new project that is blank and sized identically to the one dealing you fits. Then see if you can import the slides and objects from the errant one to the new one. That works once in a Blue Moon.

Wishing I had better advice or news to offer here... Rick

    Hi Rick!

As always, thank you very much for your help. After downloading the trial version of Captivate 3, re-creating the same learning module as before with Captivate 2, I had the exact same problem. I tried opening the project by opening the program first and then opening the project within the program as well as double clicking on the project file; both failed, and I always got the message Adobe Captivate 3 "Not Responding."

If you have any other ideas, I'll be glad to try. I will also buy Captivate 3 if I need to but I'm surprised that I continue to have the same problem even after using Captivate 3 instead of Captivate 2.

Thank you again, Rick! I'll look forward to hearing from you again very soon!

    Hello again Dean

Okay, at this point I must ask a few silly questions.

    1. What is the overall size of your project? (Both in pixel dimensions as well as number of slides)
    2. Where exactly is your project stored? Is it on your local PC or is the project file on a network drive?
    3. Are you 100% certain that the PC you are using meets specs for Captivate use?

    Thanks... Rick
