Captivate 2017 Audio - spanning multiple slides

Hello Friends!

I am working on an audio intensive, responsive project with several software simulations. When I import an audio fragment is there a way to:

1. Define the starting and ending slide numbers to span (from slide 5 to slide 10)? When I select the option to 'Distribute the audio file over several slides' it gives me the option to distribute across all remaining slides in the project.

2. Once I finish the audio import, how can I go back and change the audio start position?

3. Is there a way to view the audio of the whole project and the start positions of each slide?

Thank you for your suggestions!

Peter

I think the best way to approach what you're doing is to cut the audio outside Captivate with a tool like Audacity or Adobe Audition, so you have one audio clip per slide and/or screen element, then import those various pieces to those slides/elements one by one. This allows you the fine control you're seeking.

Once an audio file is on the timeline, you can click and slide it to a start point just like any other timeline element.

Did you check the Audio Management dialog box?

Since you talk about a responsive project, which means it could be viewed on mobile devices which have much less resources than desktops/laptops I would not recommend to use the distribute feature for audio. Audio has to be generated On Enter for each slide, and that can take some time. For that reason it would be good to leave a small gap before and after the audio clip on each slide. In that case you need an individual audio clip per slide, not use the distribute functionality.
