Captivate 2017 CC text formatting

In previous captivate versions, I could copy text from any outside source and paste it into the cc/slide notes on the screen and any formatting of that text from it's original source was ignored. Now, I find that if I copy, for example, a piece of text that was in bullet format and paste it into the slide notes, the bullet format follows and is pasted into slide notes. The issue is that once it's pasted there in that format, I'm unable to edit the format and remove the bullet point. I see that you can now edit the font to be bold, italic or underlined, but what's the deal with saving the original formatting and not being able to edit it after the fact?

I use an application called PureText. It's a tiny little app that I install on my Windows machines that when I click on it (runs in my system tray), it strips out all text formatting. Saves me lots of time with the whole copying and pasting issue. Best of all it's free and only 40 Kb. Here's the link to download it.

I save it in my startup folder so every time I start Windows it's already running in my system tray. Sorry if you're  a Mac user. I believe it's only a Windows app.

    Hello Mary,

Default settings should present you with a dialogue box asking "Do you want to copy text with formatting?" followed by YES or NO buttons.  If this box does not appear then perhaps the "Don't ask me this again" check box was checked and it is no longer giving the option at the time of copy/pasting into Captivate.

Hopefully you've already found your answer however if you have not, there is a thread answering this question at the following link:

    Hope that helps

I understand the frustrations but suspect that is just the consequence of now having more features for formatting CC.  Whenever an application offers styling features, best practice is always to copy/paste unformatted text to be able to format it in the receiving app. For text in shapes, captions there is a warning dialog that allows to strip out the formatting before pasting. Apparently that warning is not appearing when you paste into the CC/slide notes, which would have been better (maybe log a feature request). Since you cannot strip out formatting in Captivate, you'll probably need to do it before copying. I just paste first into Notepad for that reason.
