Hello All,

Is it possible to set different closed captioning text, for each state of a smart shape? Can I then also add different text-to-speech as well?

Peter

I cannot answer about the CC, but fear that is not possible since it needs slide audio.

But you definitely can add a different audio clip to each state, use that quite a lot. I create them from slide notes (could be used for TTS), then delete the slide audio after finding it in the Library. You can attach it to an object in each state.

I'm not a accessibility expert but...

If the smart shape does not contain text, use the Accessibility feature to describe its action. If it does contain text, then you shouldn't need either accessibility or CC since the viewer's screen reader will read the content. You can always add more info under accessibility if the shape's text is not clear in meaning.

I don't think the different accessible text would be appropriate for mulit-state objects if we are discussing button-like MSOs. The viewer's screen reader should read the state of the button.

If the MSOs are being triggered by other actions/buttons and used for layout changes (like layers), I don't think you can do that with either accessibility or CC. You will need to use different objects with their own accessibility content and trigger them with hide/show actions. If dealing with lots of objects, you might want to use multiple slides.
