Captivate 2017 - PowerPoint - Responsive

Hello Friends,

I am using Captivate 2017. I am trying to import a PowerPoint presentation such that I am able to move the PowerPoint objects into a Captivate fluid box. When I import the PowerPoint, the content comes in as an image, and once in Captivate; I am unable to move the content. When I try to save as a responsive project the image resizes and the text it unreadable. I am using a web-safe font in the PowerPoint. Any ideas on how to import the PowerPoint so that I can move the text boxes and other objects into Captivate fluid boxes?

Sincerely,

Peter

    Correct answer Lilybiri

Probably not the answer you expect: do NOT use Powerpoint as a start for a responsive project but create from scratch in Captivate. You can use the assets like images (import them to the Project Library in CP). Even for a normal project, if you want to create a real eLearning course, do not use PPT import. Each PPT slide will be converted in a movie slide, trying to keep the timing and animations set up in PPT. Since PPT is not responsive at all, I even doubt it will ever be possible to create a responsive project starting that way.

    Dear Lilybiri,

Thank you for that information. I appreciate the suggestion. I unfortunately have about 30 courses (from a client) that are all PowerPoint presentations. I was hoping there would be an easier way to work with the material rather than starting from scratch. Starting over does give me the opportunity to dazzle the customer with many of Captivate's features, but it will be time-intensive.

    Sincerely,

    Peter

    Hi Lilybiri and Peter,

I also want to better understand how we can import PPT files into Captivate.

Although I don't have lots of Captivate experience, I have (in the past) seen exactly what you guys talking about:  PPT slides being reduced to flat images without the various editable pieces remaining intact.

In other words, you are greatly losing out when importing a PPT file into Captivate.

So, can someone please shed light on why one of the features of Captivate is "PPT Roundtripping"? Are we missing out on something?  The following is from Adobe Captivate (2017 release) - Features :

    Roundtripping with Microsoft PowerPoint

Make a smart move—go beyond static slides to interactive eLearning. Import your PowerPoint slides into Adobe Captivate, bring in objects, animations, and multimedia, easily update the content, and keep your PowerPoint and Adobe Captivate projects in sync.

    Thanks!
