Captivate 2019 crash when trying to record a video demo

I've seen this in several forum posts, but the newest is from April 2020, and no solution is listed there.

I got the same problem than everybody else, when you click on Record Video Demo the program crashes without any error message. Captivate 2019 v11.5.1.499

It was recording video fine last week (2nd October is the last day I recorded something new).

I've checked what I have installed in this week, and only OBS got updated (it was previously installed, just got a new update). I uninstalled it to see if it caused the problem, but the problem continues.

The only windows update in this time frame is this one (It was installed on the 3rd October)

Any idea why this keeps happening. Anybody has found a solution or workaround?

I had to create a video this week and I had to use other tools as Captivate failed me miserably.

Well, the problem was OBS and its virtual camera, but unistalling OBS wasn't enough if you want to keep your profiles.

So youy have to do the following in case you have the same problem as me:

It would be nice that Captivate features wouldn't stop working for things like this, and if it crashes, it could throw an error message (we are in 2020...). Luckily for me only one week had passed since I successfully record video demo, so i could pinpoint where the problem was, as just a couple of changes were made in my PC in that time.

But if this happens while you had a few software simulation projects in a row where you are not required to record video and then you need to record one, you will struggle to find the solution.

You need to always launch Captivate with Run As Administrator privileges.  Not doing this is THE major reason why Captivate crashes in the circumstances you describe.

Thanks, I always do that.

As I have mentioned, it was working fine last week Friday.

OK.  Then I suspect you have either installed some other app that is now conflicting with Captivate or else you have installed some Windows update with is doing that.  Something must have changed otherwise Captivate would not NOW be showing changed behaviour.  Some Windows updates are done silently so you may not have known it happened.
