Question

Captivate 3 is wrong size when importing into Flash CS3

I've tried exporting, publishing etc. and no matter how I try, when I import into Flash CS3 the size of the Captivate content (background screens, in particular) are too small. For example, I captured a 423x424 area for my Captivate project. When I import into a Flash CS3 project with the same dimensions the Captivate content (screens) are more like 203x203.5 and the mouse path and slide context starting positions are upper left corner. I've tried adjusting some of the importing settings but can't get the screens the right size unless I resize each one manually - and I have around 100. Any help greatly appreciated!

The good news (and the workaround) is that export to Flash 8 works. I just found a place where one can still download Flash 8 ( http://www.click-now.net/download/Macromedia_Flash.htm). Now I can export to 8, save as .fla and open in Flash CS3.

Me too. I just submitted a bug report, but experience with Adobe should show us that nothing is going to happen - it will be fixed (and new major bugs introduced) with the next EXPENSIVE(!) upgrade to "4.0" (even the jump to "3" is a joke, it's a 2.2 at most. No wonder no one buys this product (compared with CS3 purchases)).

My question (to only complain publically isn't sufficient cause for posting here):
Does the export feature work fro ANYONE AT ALL???

I am using captivate 3 and I get an error whenever I try to export to flash cs3. unknown error.

why the hell doesnt Adobe say that flash is required to export to flash BEFORE I buy the software? I am using my pc for captivate, but am primarily mac based and was going to edit in flash on my mac. but captivate didnt allow for me to export to flash at all without any kind of flash installed. I installed a demo version of flash, but the export is coming up with an error. any ideas out there? adobe??? I'm currently using vista OS.

thanks in advance. r

There could be hope for you: AFAIK you don't need the whole Flash CS3 installed. All you need is one file, an export filter for Captivate which writes the .fla. I think. Can't help (no access to my Flash-machine from where I am), I just respond to maybe give you a direction to look.

Same results with CS3 + Captivate 3 on Win XP. Every slide background is scaled way down, the mouse has green glow around it.................It would be very nice if this feature actually worked.

Has anyone actually got this feature to work? I've been trying to export Captivate 3 to Flash CS3 and had the same poor results as those above. Backgrounds shrink, then enlarge, mouse movements are erratic, captioning is all over the place, and I get strange coloured backgrounds on certain elements.
Can anyone at Adobe shed any light?

I want to export to Flash to apply added functionality and to also output in different video formats.
Thanks
