Captivate 3 publishing / fullmotion question

I'm a novice Captivate user. When I go to publish a presentation that includes fullmotion, I get the single presentation SWF that I was expecting (yay), but also a handful of fullmotion SWFs (boo). If I recall correctly, I never had this problem with Captivate 2. Is there anything I can do to confine the finished product to a single SWF, without needing the fullmotion files to be present? Thank you for any help.

    Welcome to our community

There is a workaround but it's a bit involved. It was pioneered by fellow Adobe Certified Instructor, Expert and Community Expert John Daigle.

John discovered that if you publish targeting Flash 7 to a temporary folder you create different full motion files than exist in the project. So if you then insert a blank slide either immediately before or immediately after each full motion slide and configure the blank slide for the same duration as the existing full motion slide, you can then click Insert > Animation and pull in the matching clip you published to the temporary folder. Then you may delete the original full motion slide. Rinse and repeat as necessary. Once you have replaced the clips with their doppelgangers, publish again and again ensure Flash 7 is the target version. You should now have a single SWF with all the full motion clips inside it.

As an aside, I do believe you have control over how this happens with Captivate 4. So you may wish to download the evaluation version and test.

    Cheers... Rick
