Question

Captivate 4 is now working very slowly - how can I speed things up?

Hi,

My elearning course is now 13,641 KB and is starting to work very slowly. I have deleted all unused items from the library. Is there anything else I can do to speed things up? I don't want to split the project up at this stage.

Thanks.

Not only RAM is important, do you have a graphics card? Captivate is graphics intensive.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I have moved most of my files on my computer onto an external hard drive to free up room but it is still not enough space for Captivate. I think the next time, I will use a computer with more memory, etc.

I did wonder if there was another way to clean up what I've been doing, like the 'remove unused items from the library', but perhaps there isn't.

Did the slowness begin when you moved your Captivate project files onto another drive?

You need to be aware that you should always ONLY work on Captivate project files that are sitting on your own local hard drives, never those stored on a LAN or other drive.  Too many issues arise from working on non-local project files.

    Slowly in the development environement?

    1. Close all unnecessary applications so CP has as many resources available as possible.

    2. Buy more RAM

    Slowly in playback?

    1. That will ever be dependent on the specs of the computer running the program and not much you can do aside from preloading and ensuring all unused assets are removed
