Captivate 4 - Text entry boxes - flashing cursor

Hi

I am hoping someone will be able to help me with regards to text entry boxes.

On some of my slides the cursor already appears flashing in the text entry box ready for the user to input text but then on the other slides it's not in the text box at all and the user has to click in the text box before entering the text. Does anyone know why the cursor would only appear in some text boxes and not others? The properties of all text boxes are the same so I can't work out why it's different...

Thanks in advance for your help/ suggestions.

Jodie

I have fudged my way through this before. I grabbed screen shots of the text entery box (cropped to size). I used this image in combination with click boxes related to the letters needed. One screen at a time the user thinks they are entering in the information.

    Hi Jodie

A couple of things come to mind. Look closely at two different slides. One where it works and one where it fails. Note the differences.

The first thing that comes to mind is that perhaps you will find that the slides where the cursor is automatically in the box and flashing, the Text Entry Box is the top most object on the Timeline. This is called the Stacking Order.

The second thing that comes to mind is the actual X/Y placement of the Text Entry Box on the slide itself. Think of a grid where you move from left to right and from top to bottom.

Hopefully this provides some food for thought as to how to troubleshoot this. You might also consider submitting a Wish Form to ask the development team to provide some option where we might specify that a particular area such as this automatically have focus upon entering the slide.

    Cheers... Rick

    Hi Rick

Thanks for you suggestions but they do not seem to make any differece as to whether the cursor appears or not.
