Captivate 5.5 Quiz erroneously reports "Question 1 of 1"

I've created several quizzes and have discovered that when they are either run or previewed, the very first quiz slide reports "Question 1 of 1", even though there are multiple question slides. This is particularly odd because I don't see this error while in editing view.

Every subsequent slide does report the correct total number of slides. The first slide of the file always gives the wrong total, even if I change the order of the slides in the file.

All of these files were created from a common source file using "Save As...", so the problem must track from that point of origin. If  I create a new, pristine file, I don't see the same problem.

Can anyone suggest a fix?

Thanks,

Carl

Was the source file perhaps created with an older version and upgraded?

No, the source file was created in version 5.5.

I've found that the only way to get the numbering to work properly is to insert a blank slide as the actual slide number 1, and give it a duration of .5 seconds. That way, the slide is almost invisible when the quiz runs, and the rest of the slides are actually numbered correctly. I don't know why, but that seems to be the only way to correct the numbering scope so far.

Oh, sometimes system variables need a little bit time to be updated and that seems here the case. Do I understand that you start immediately with the first question on the first slide? And is preloading set perhaps to less than 100%? I'm only guessing and relying a little bit on my Captivate intuition

Why not  create a short welcome slide?
