Captivate 5 file doesn't publish properly

Hi.

I have an Adobe Captivate 5 file, call it "Module 1," that only generates 2 files instead of the usual 3 files when I publish to Flash.

In the destination folder, the HTML file is not there, a SWF file is not created (in its place is a file labelled "File" and has 0 KB).  The Javascript file is successfully there.

While the publishing process is going on, all the messages indicate that it is publishing properly.  It previews fine.

I published a different Captivate 5 file with the same settings to see if that would work and it published just fine.  No problems.

I am not sure how to fix the file that won't publish properly.  I am selecting publish to Flash, Flash 10, Export to HTML.

I tried publishing to Flash 9.  Still didn't work.  I tried publishing to email.  The only file that attached to the email was a Javascript file.  Again, there should have been 3 files.  Didn't work.

Need advice please!

CB

Hello and welcome to the forum,

It is rather difficult to know what is wrong, perhaps the file is corrupt (could be a slide or an object)? Although that is occurring not that often on CP5 as it was with previous versions. Is your version up to date: 5.0.2.630?

Some actions you could take, but not sure it will help:

    • clear the cache
    • delete the preferences folder, it is labeled Captivate 5 and can be found in your profile:
      ....\users\<your username>\AppData\local\
    • create a blank project with the same resolution, copy slide per slide (not all at once) and try to publish when part have been copied

    Thanks.

I downloaded the patch for Captivate 5.  That didn't solve the problem.

I copied and pasted the slides (one by one) into a new project, and now it publishes okay!

    Thanks!

Great, so something was corrupt somewhere, less frequent on CP5 but it happens,
