Captivate 5 file published in Captivate 9

I have some files that were created in Captivate 5.  I have opened them in Captivate 9 and am trying to view and am getting this message:

Sorry, the location you are attempting to watch this lesson from is not authorized.

Notify  your organization's Training Manager to address the issue.

I don't know if this is a security issue with the organization that created this file or if it is a version issue between Captivate 5 and 9.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

When you say 'trying to view', you mean trying to open in CP9? Or publishing successfully but the published piece is showing that error?

That error sounds more like a webservice error, like you've published the piece successfully and uploaded, but the site to which you've uploaded doesn't want to let you play it...

Actually it could be something else.

Some years ago I seem to remember there was an AS3 widget that allowed you to have the published content ONLY play from a specific domain or IP address.  The intention was to prevent people from stealing the learning content and displaying it from their own or some other website.

The error message described in this thread sounds very much like the one displayed by that widget.  So I would suggest searching through the CPTX file to see if you can find this widget and perhaps remove it.

If on the other hand you ARE only viewing the published content and do not have the original CPTX file used to create it, then I guess the widget is working fine!

Officially it should be possible to upgrade a project from 5 to 9, but experience learned me that it is rarely a successful process, too many versions and changes in between: themes appeared with Captivate 6,  which made the design approach totally different, Effects appeared, publishing to HTML appeared, states appeared, shapes appeared, the UI changed totally with CP8, widgets disappeared or upgraded.

Since you get a warning about the location: where are the files stored? I hope it is not on a networked drive. If you are on Windows system, do you run Captivate as Administrator? The original cptx-projects may not have been closed in the appropriate way, but that should lead to another error message.
