Captivate 5 recording not captured

Hi. I am a new user to Captivate 5 and am having some difficulty with the recording.

I am using Version 5.0.0.596

Windows 7 64 bit

I was practicing capturoing a 2-3 step process and it looked like all was going well.  The camera sounds were heard with each step.  I clicked END and the recording finished up.  But, when I view it, all I see is the mouse movement trail and the generated comment boxes.  There is nothing in the background of the recording.

I searched thru the archives to see if I could find another case of this happening to others, but no.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Karen

    Hi,

I too have the same issue. Version 4 was excellent but Captivate 5 does not record more than 3 slides. I hope the technical team posts an answer to this.

    Thanks,

    Atul

Could you give us a bit more information about your system?

E.g. What type of computer, what OS and version, type of video card, etc.

When you look in the Captivate library under Backgrounds, do you see any slide background images there?  Or are there none at all?

I've never seen Captivate 5 have a problem recording more than 3 slides, in fact I do hundreds with it on my DELL Win7 64bit lappy.

I'm guessing that what might be happening here is some kind of conflict with CP5 and video drivers.  Since Cp5 is a total rewrite from the ground up, it's using totally different technology than Cp4.

    Hi RodWard,

    Here are the answers:

What type of computer, what OS and version, type of video card, etc

Answer: I have a HP 6730B laptop with Windows XP ( Service Pack 3) and the video card is an Intel R4 chipset based card.

I've never seen Captivate 5 have a problem recording more than 3 slides, in fact I do hundreds with it on my DELL Win7 64bit lappy.

When I start recording on my laptop it works fine and records all the slides but the issue occurs when I record from a HP virtual room when my colleague in the USA shares her desktop.

    Here is my questions:

My recordings could last from 30 mins to 2 hours , what are the settings that you recommend that I should use for Captivate 5

    Thanks,

    Atul

    Hello, welcome to the forum,

Did you open start Captivate as an Administrator? I'm asking this just to be sure. And are you connected to a network? Are your documents by default perhaps not on your own PC?

Thanks Lilybiri.  I did open as an administrator and I am connected to a network.  I was trying to capture a simple process on Outlook using about 3 steps.

Let me add a few more pieces of info to this to see if it makes a difference.  I had Captivate 5 installed on my previous laptop, Vista 32 bit and it was working as I expected.  That laptop had had Captivate 3 on it and we upgraded to Captivate 5.  I then got a new laptop and had difficulty installing the Cap5 upgrade on it because it didn't see any previous version to upgrade.  I worked thru Adobe support online and got it installed finally.  So, here I am now with a shiny new laptop and Cap5 and can't get them to play well together.
