Captivate 5 (trial version) Freezing & Publish Issues

We have loaded Captivate 5 (trial version) onto 2 separate computers.  The program is regularly freezes whilst scrolling throughout slides, saving the file and general usage. All saves are local and both machines are above minimum spec and run windows 7.

When we can get preview to work, the learning episode runs OK, however when publishing we experience intermittent issues with ainimation (swf) and audio.  The issues include animation being cut off, animation have long periods of silence before playing, inability to pause and if progressing through slides audio of one slide plays over audio of another.  This has been tested both on FireFox and IE.

All help is appreciated.

Regards

Paul

    Hello Paul,

Is the issue resolved now? What format you were publishing to?

    Thanks,

We tried to covert Cap 4 to Cap 5 and found a number of things were so wrong that we could not proceed through to using with clients. For example, colour schemes changed. Certain features like quizzes did not work and would need to be re-written.

We are not going to buy Cap 5.

Our original issue - Cap4 overloading CPUs on Citrix networks using thin clients - remains unresloved.

Our clients are now .waiting until major network upgrade and may then go to installing client computers that have their own processors. In the meantime the are installing separate ADSL lines to support a learing centre - so not achieving learning to the desk.

    Conclusion:

Cap 5 does not convert Cap 4 productions reliably. In our case - incurring unacceptable amounts of re-writing

Cap 4 and Cap 5 will overload the server CPUs on Citrix networks using  thin clients and will not be accepted by IT departments (Correctly)

    Hello There,

Would like to understand more on this.

"Cap 5 does not convert Cap 4 productions reliably. In our case - incurring unacceptable amounts of re-writing"

Can you please send the issues to me at viswanat@adobe.com? A sample if possible would be really helpful. We will see if this way we could understad the issue, or else we can do a connect session to your machine.

I'm new to this issue. Can you explain more on this please? You can include this explanation in the email you are sending me.

    Thanks,

    Vish

    Hi Paul,

I am very sorry to hear that you have encountered problems with the Adobe Captivate trial version. To address the freezing issues you have encountered, I would suggest that you try running Captivate as the Adminstration. To do this please carry out the following steps:

    1. Right-click on the Adobe Captivate shortcut icon

    2. Choose Properties

    3. Select the Compatiblity tab

    4. Tick the Run this program as an administrator

    5. Click OK

I too have experienced some issues with the audio being cut out and would recommend that you report this issue to the Adobe Captivate team using the web address I have included below.

    Hi Steve

I am now about to trial Cap5 to overcome Cap4, when running training authored in CAP4 and being fed from an external LMS via internet, causing Citrix network servers to max out on CPU and memory (50-60% on CPU, 65% mem). This was advice from Adobe marketing. Have you any view on that? Have you any solution to the CPU/MEm issue on Citrix networks?
