Question

Captivate 6.0 Drag and Drop incorrect message with correct answer

I am using Captivate 6.0

Drag and Drop

Published to an exe (this is not a problem when I view it in preview)

When I drag an object to an incorrect position and then change my mind and send it to the correct position, it marks the answer as incorrect.

Is there a way to fix this?

In the interaction properties section I do not know what "Send Drag Source to Original position" or "Redrag the dropped source" means, but I tried it checked and not checked.

Are you leaving the Drag and Drop - Attempts - property to its default of "1"? Redrag the Dropped Source property mealy notes that the object has the ability to be redragged, setting your attempt count at "1" on the first drag. Any correct answer after this would not be counted leaving it incorrect.

Thanks for your reply. Attempts value won't solve this problem.

drop the correct drop on wrong drop target. drop it on correct drop target. click on submit.

Captivate thinks it as failure. this is a bug with captivate.

My users will not drop correctly in first attempt. if they drop the drop source correct on next attempt, failure message pops up.

Vladimir_X is correct about captivate programmers and Redrag option.

I have used the new drag & drop feature extensively in my work since it came out in Cap 7.

It is a complex tool - and like a lot of Captivate stuff you have to elevate your personal skill level as a prerequisite to achieving results.

I have done drag & drop in bith html5 and swf and it has produced some very engaging interactions.

I always allow the dropped objects to be redragged - as it is tricky (particularly on an iPAD) to accurately drop items.

So I strongly disagree with the repeated assertion that the captivate developers have created a dud this time.

(Granted they have in the past created some duds - but this is not one).

When mentoring new Captivate developers I always suggest that their mind set should be to assume that the problems they initially get are of their making.

Try changing parameters and experimenting to learn what they do...Captivate drag&drop is a VERY pwerful tool and demands a lot of understanding by the developer.

Sorry for the total lack of sympathy - but as we say - a good tradesman never blames his tools (well not at first anyway).

I have the same problem in Captivate 7. If  'Redrag the dropped source' is enabled and the user  drops a drop source to an incorrect drop target and then redrags it to a correct drop target, the answer is still incorrect. This makes 'Redrag the dropped source' a useless (and even harmful) option. Overall Captivate seems to be designed and implemented by amature programmers.

Exactly same problem. I have a very simple drag drop with same problem. Guys anyone know is this fixed in captivate patch. I really have to solve this.

    Hi there,

By incorrect position, you meant you are trying to drop the source in an incorrect Target and then trying to move it to the correct target?

Enabling 'Send Drag source to original position’ option sends back the source to its original position if it is dropped anywhere outside of a target. If this option is off, then you can drag and place the source anywhere on the slide.

Enabling 'Redrag the dropped source' option allows you to redrag and drop an already dropped source from one target to another.

    Thanks,

    Nimmy Sukumaran.

I think there may be a bug in the drag and drop.

I enable redrag the dropped source. When I do it, it gives an incorrect answer.

This happens when I publish the file to exe

When I preview the file, it works correctly.

    Hi there,

By preview, you meant pressing 'F4', 'F12' preview. Ideally there shouldn't be any difference between SWF preview as well as in Exe publish.

    Thanks,

    Nimmy Sukumaran.
