    Hi there

First, select the image. You know it's selected when you see the sizing handles surrounding the image.

Now look at the properties panel. See that little "skin diving" symbol? Click it, then you get a popup where you can click the eyedropper.

After you click the eyedropper, the mouse pointer changes to an eyedropper. You then position it over the color you want to be transparent and click to choose the color.

Keep in mind that how well this will work will entirely depend on the image. For example, the image may appear to have a white background. But clicking on it may simply appear to be a "blotchy" removal of background. This is because you are choosing one specific shade of white and there are possibly hundreds of shades of white that make up the background.

    Cheers... Rick

You will need a graphics application like Photoshop to make parts of an image transparent, and if you do not import it as a Photoshop file, save it as PNG (only format to support fully transparency).

However if your short question is about making background of slides transparent, that is not possible in Captivate.
