Captivate 6 - Fade in Transition Error for Smart Shape Lines

Within my Captivate 6 project, I am using Smart Shape lines to direct the viewers attention. However, when I publish the project, instead of fading as other object do, the smart shape lines are blinking and than fading in.  It's seem to appear and disappear for a split second, and than they fade back in.  It's very strange. They do not behave or display this way within the program when building, only when I publish.

Does anyone have a solution?

Notes:

• This "error" is not occurring on other smart objects, or an other objects that are set to fade in or fade out.

• The fade out does not appear to blink, only the fade ins seem to have the error.

• I did not have this issue in Captivate 5.5.

This is a time-sensitive deadline driven project.

Thank you in adavance.

Paul

On any objects that have an effect applied, I'm experiencing an undesired flicker or blink before or after the effect executes (object appears, disappears and reappears quickly, then effect occurs). It happens when previewing and when publishing to SWF, HTML5 or MP4 video. I'm using Fly-In or Motion Path effects on an image to move it on or off the stage. The image should move onto stage on the first slide, remain visible (without flicker) through to the next slide and then move off stage. "Force Re-publish on all slides" does not resolve this. Slide Quality: High (24-bit); "Retain Slide Quality Settings" checked and all other compress options unchecked.

This issue has occurred on multiple projects. It makes the effects unusable and therefore makes Captivate almost as unusable. I see that posts regarding this issue go back at least a year but I can't find a fix. Is anyone at Adobe working on this?? Please someone help me with a fix or workaround - my deadline is approaching fast. Thank you in advance!

Specs: Captivate 6 v6.0.1.240; Mac OS X v10.6.8 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Flickering is still there.. Only workaround that works sometimes is to add a Fade in transition to the shape.

Try selecting "Force Re-publish on all slides." Worked for me.

After upgrading to the latest version of 6, this seems to have fixed the blink-before-fade-in issue on smart objects.

So glad to have discovered that I'm not the only one seeing this issue. I hope Adobe fixes this soon, as I cannot go back to 4 or 5.5.

Have you improved the quality of the slide(s) in question?  Doing so usually solves the problem without changing transitions, effects, etc.:

Properties>Quality> (I usually choose "Optimized" or "High")

of course! no difference.  it really is a bug.

I actually always use "High" unless file size is a huge issue because all the others mess with the display in weird ways...

I'm having the same issue, although I'm not sure if it's only lines - although all the things I'm having the "flash" with, the group of objects fading together include lines, so that makes sense.  Did you ever fix it?

megbertapelleid,

I have not received or discovered a fix.  In fact, until 6.5 is released, I probably will not use Captivate 6.  For now, I'm sticking with 5.5, which I highly recommend you do as well.  While the LMS, template support, and Quizzing options are better in 6 (plus a few other things), I've had all-around better success with 5.5 without needing to jump through hoops, turn off built-in features, or limit my creativity.

However, for the sake of making a suggestion for a workaround, I've found that turning off slide transitions in Captive 6 will help resolve some problems (especially with slide pausing).  However, workarounds seem to be a intermittent fix, and that is the primary reason I switched back to 5.5.  I found that "solutions" for captivate 6 issues either were not consistent enough to be reliable from project to project or started to over complicate my designs.

Also, as you can see - this forum post was started in July, and a viable solution still isn't prevalent (at least, not in this post).  Granted, I don't know if the issues I have with Captivate 6 are anomalies... However, it doesn't build my confidence when solutions from the community are not available or acceptable.  Perhaps 6.5 will have the bugs ironed out.

Sorry I could not be of greater assistance.

Good luck!

thanks for the reply I would imagine that Adobe is working on a patch - I'm just hoping that this bug will be fixed with the patch.  I've asked around the "twitter-verse" as well, and no dice on a fix for now, so I guess I'll just have to remove transitions.  We've got version 5, but not 5.5.  No time to re-create the whole thing, so we'll just have to live with it for now.

Crossing fingers for a good patch!

I had this problem too but I am stuggling to remember exactly how I fixed it. It had something to do with the way I had the effects set up. Are you using effects on the lines? If you are, try removing and then readding the effects. It was something simple in there. Sorry I can't be more help but I'm pretty sure you'll find it there.

Kurrykid,

No effects are applied.  I tested setting the transition effect to "No Transition" & then back to "Fade In and Out", but the issue is not resolved.  I also tried removing the Shadow, but that also did not resolve the error. Thanks for trying.
