Captivate 6 - HTTP-based AICC/CMI Protocol ?

Hi,

Is it possible to get Captivate 6 to publish out using HTTP-based AICC/CMI, as was done in Captivate 4? We seem to be running issues with our Juniper network appliance and the way Captivate 6 implements its AICC communication. Captivate 4 lessons work fine.

Hi Jody,

Yes, it is technically possible to publish using HTTP-based AICC/CMI in Captivate 6, but the implementation is quite different compared to Captivate 4. Adobe made changes to how AICC communication is handled, particularly with how it manages cross-domain communication and data tracking. This could be the root of the compatibility issues you're experiencing with your Juniper network appliance.

One workaround is to ensure that your LMS and Captivate course are on the same domain or properly configured for cross-domain communication (using the index_lms.html launcher file). Also, check that the AICC_URL and AICC_SID parameters are being passed correctly during the launch—Captivate 6 can be sensitive about formatting.

Much like those seeking CMI Level 6 Assignment Help to navigate changes in academic frameworks, moving from one version of software to another (like Captivate 4 to 6) often requires re-evaluating configurations and compatibility settings to ensure smooth operation.

Let me know if you’d like a more technical breakdown or a sample configuration!

Best regards,

Hi Jody,

Yes, Captivate 6 does support HTTP-based AICC/CMI communication, but it handles it differently compared to Captivate 4, which could be the reason you're seeing issues with your Juniper network appliance.

Captivate 6 introduced some updates in how it communicates with LMS systems, especially when using AICC protocols. These changes may conflict with firewall settings, security protocols, or network filters set by devices like Juniper.

Here are a few steps you might try:

Double-check that the AICC URL in your Captivate 6 settings is correctly configured.

  1. Test the course outside of your Juniper-controlled environment to see if the problem persists.

  2. Review any cross-domain policies or firewall restrictions that could be blocking AICC communication.

  3. If possible, try exporting as SCORM instead, which may offer more stable compatibility with modern LMS setups.

Since Captivate 4 courses work fine, comparing the two published packages might help identify specific differences.

Also, if you’re managing training content development and want to strengthen your understanding of learning delivery and systems compatibility, resources like CMI Level 4 Assignment Help (https://www.cmiassignmenthelper.co.uk/cmi-level-4-assignment-help/can be useful. They often cover practical aspects of training management and digital learning tools.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more guidance.

Hi Jody,

Captivate 6 works with AICC based CMI. How are you exactly publishing it to the LMS? Is it a Zipped package?

Can you share the problem that you are coming across this way?

Thanks,

Anjaneai

The issue is that Captivate 6's Javascript-based API in cannot see the LMS when the browser is in another domain.
