Captivate 7 and subscriptions

Hi everyone

I've just found out there's a new version of Captivate (v7) and as I'm a Captivate subscriber, I'm considering getting it but I'm worried by the following issues...

1) Will I still be able to use Captivate 6? I have stuff developed in Cap 6 for clients that use Cap 6 that I want to maintain and I also will be training people to use Cap 6. I need that old version available.

2) If, at some time in the future, decide to drop my Captivate subscription (unlikely - but I may find myself working a long contract for a client with their own licenses) - will I be able to restart my subscription and again have access to old as well as new versions?

any ideas?

Regards

The way I understand it is that subscription based licenses will give you access to the current version and one version back as well. So you should be able to have Captivate 7 and Captivate 6 (6.1) installed at the same time.

However in subscriptions only the current version and one version back will be available so once Adobe releases Captivate 7.5 then you can no longer use Captivate 6 as you would have Captivate 7 and 7.5 in your subscription.

The same applies if you cancel your subscription and jump back in again at Captivate 8. At this point you should be able to get Captivate 8 and Captivate 7.5, but you won't be able to get Captivate 6 or 7.

This is one of the major disadvantages of a subscription based model for freelancers. I still have clients that use Captivate 4 and if I do work for them I need to be able to do it in their version.

I cannot answer your second question, hope staff will pop in.

But for your first question, it should be possible to have both, look at this thread (you have to scroll down, see answers by Allen Partridge towards the end):
