Captivate 7 - deleting variables issue

Hi all,

I have an issue where i need to clear up some of my unused variables and i can't delete them.  As a test I actually deleted every slide except a single blank slide and deleted all my advanced actions, yet i still get the message "A text object/advanced action uses this variable.  Before deleting the variable, clear all references to it in the project."

I don't see how this is possible when there is no content and all advanced actions are cleared?  Is there a way of seeing what variables are assigned to (usage) like advanced actions have?

Any ideas?

Cp7, like all Cp versions before it, has no way to see usage for variables.  You can see where Advanced Actions are used, but the same does not hold true for variables.

You'll be pleased to know that just today we were discussing this particular issue with Adobe in the hope of getting something done about this for Cp8.

Your combined prayers would be appreciated.

Indeed, have been asking for such a Usage button for 5.5, for 6 and for 7, but never was heard.

I have the same problem - and I know we have a usage button now (I believe there was a Cp update since this last post?). When I go to delete a variable I get the same message, saying it is being used elsewhere. When I click the Usage button it doesn't show it being used anywhere here in Cp7.

Is this the button we were looking for, or is there another button we are still awaiting in terms of looking for usage?

    Hi there,

Are you having any Shared Actions using that variable?

You can try deleting the shared actions from library first and then delete the variable.

If issue is still not solved, please upload the project to acrobat.com and email me the download link at ramadoss@adobe.com
