Question

Captivate 7 - How to embed an FLV link from "already deployed to a web server" via the Video>Insert Video>Embed Video option? Receiving "incorrect/invalid file" message.

Captivate 7 - Invalid error for embedding video link

In attempting to load FLV video link to course via the Video>Insert Video option in toolbar; Then select radio buttons: "Embed Video" and "Already deployed to a web server, Adobe Media Streaming Service, or Flash Media Server."

After typing URL, "The file you have specified is incorrect or invalid. Ensure that you specify a valid file." message is received. The FLV file lives on a web server. Any idea for why it is being marked as incorrect/invalid?

Thanks,

Brian

Not all video files are created equal.  Captivate has in the past shown a preference for certain encoding in FLVs and F4V video files.  It's recommended that any video you want to use with Captivate be encoded via the Adobe Media Encoder app that comes with Captivate.

Even the fact that your FLV was encoded with some other Adobe app, does not guarantee it will work with Captivate. (Don't get me started on that.)  So try re-encoding your FLV with AME and then see if that improves your chances of embedding the link.
