Captivate 8.0.1, phonegap and android audio

When I create an app in Captivate 8.0.1 and use Phonegap (via Captivate's Publish), I cannot play sounds in the Galaxy Tab 2 I am using for testing. It has Android 4.2.2 with very few installed apps (though I sideloaded the last Android version of the Flash Player). Sound on the tablet works find until I launch the app, and then nothing. I've tried creating an app from a blank project that contains only one button that has is supposed to play the sound when pressed. The script works when run from a browser. But when I publish to an app, I can get no audio at all. Nothing.
