Captivate 8 - Audio cuts off after various slides

Hi,

I develop software simulations using Captivate 8.  I have not had problems for the last 3 years.  I have always added audio narration to each step by step set of instructions and introduction slides.  This is audio that has been recording directly into Captivate using a microphone.  I have a project with 250 slides and this is NOT the largest Captivate Training that I have developed.

Lately, when I add the audio - slide by slide - during preview, the slides plays back perfectly.  After publsihing, the audio is cut off during the last 2 to 3 seconds per slide.  I re-recorded and validated that there were two seconds added to the audio recording before ending.   The slide does not move to the next slide until done. I thought that I had it fixed.  But when re-publishing as a .swf and .html, I am faced with the identical issue.  There is no fade on the audio.

I am thinking that I should un-install and re-installl the application...but Adobe has not answered my question if this is possible without ramifications.

I saw other threads addressing the audio issue in Captivate 9 but I did not find value in the suggestions.  Adding dirty sound is not a good option.

Has anyone solved this issue?

"I re-recorded and validated that there were two seconds added to the audio recording before ending.   The slide does not move to the next slide until done."

Also, your comment has me wondering if you have added timing inside the audio file or on the Captivate timeline.

I recommend you try updating or rolling back the Audio drivers on your computer before reinstalling Captivate.  Something may have changed recently on your box which has caused this issue.  Hopefully it's caused issues in other areas and that has triggered a new release of the drivers which will rectify it.
