Captivate 8 - keyboard shortcuts and shortcut icons

In Captivate 7 there was a vertical icon bar on the left side of the window that made it fast and easy to insert objects such as text captions, smart shapes, buttons, and so forth. Is there a way to get that icon bar to show in Captivate 8?

In Captivate 7, keyboard shortcuts were listed next to menu items, for example, insert text caption Ctrl-Shift-C. Captivate 8 doesn't list the keyboard shortcuts in the dropdown menus. Is there a way to make them show?

    Hi,

You can hover on the options to get the corresponding shortcut key. The short cut combination will be in the form of tool tip of the content.

For eg: you want to add a content slide. The common step is Click on "+" symbol on toolbar and click on content slide. where as if we hover on content slide option, we get a tool tip stating Shift+Ctrl+V.

    Regards,

Wow! Last time, changes to interactions were put up in tooltips. Now, shortcut keys!

Next, you should consider putting entire help of the tool in the tooltip.

Toolbox (vertical toolbar) is gone forever, proclaimed not friendly for newbies, replaced by the BBB that takes up too much real estate especially on 16/9 screens, and that is fixed. For the sake of newbies everything is fixed now: no dragging, no workspaces, no customisation. Same for shortcut keys: no newbie is supposed to ever use shortcut keys, they never will suffer from RSI by using that mouse arm too much. I pleaded to show those shortcut keys, but it would be 'confusing'. Jay, you suffer from the same minority no-newbie syndrom as I do concerning the UI of CP8. Be patient  and hopefully you'll get used to the attitude of a newbie.

It's true that newbies tend to not use shortcut keys, although some do like them and want them. But newbies don't remain newbies. After using Captivate for a few weeks, they will want to work more quickly and efficiently and my feeling is that they will be frustrated by having to go to menus all the time (as am I).

    Menus are time consuming.

    HI Jay,

Have asked to keep the shortcuts visible (during prerelease), even to add shortcuts, but minority 'should' always lose in a democracy (not the case in Belgium ). Good news is that most shortcut keys still work in CP8, I'm using them all the time. Whenever it is possible I avoid having to move the mouse to the top of my screen to that BBB or the menu. I did use the vertical toolbox, because I just floated it and could put it everywhere.

I didn't check every shortcut, but here is the list: Adobe Captivate * Shortcut keys

Nope and not that I'm aware of. What we have now is the BBB (Big Button Bar) and no toolbar or menu items and it's a real bummer and hassle for someone like me that was always using the menus.

Report it as a bug using the link below:

    Jay,

My guess is you will only get an explanation for why it is the way it is. At best, we might get the shortcut keys next to the menu items back.
