Captivate 8 - Mac OS X Mavericks - Can't print to Micrsoft Word

When I select File>Print and attempt to publish to Microsoft Word (to create handouts), the process begins and then fails, accompanied by an alert that reads:

"Publish to MS Word failed. Retry after ensuring that

- The document is not open.

- You have installed Microsoft Word."

I have ensured that both of those bullet items are true, and I continue to experience the same issue, repeatedly. I have MS Office 2011 installed on my MacBook Pro.

I was about to post this question, when I had another idea, which turned out to be a workaround for the issue. I'm posting my question along with this simple solution anyway, in case anyone else is experiencing the same problem:

If I launch MS Word before attempting to print the project in Captivate, then I'm able to successfully print/publish to MS Word from within Captivate. It appears that Captivate is unable to independently open Word, at least on my system.

If anyone knows how to get Captivate to print to MS Word without having to first open the Word application, I'd appreciate a response.

Thanks.

Having the same issues on MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1. Captivate 11.8.1.185. MSWord for Mac version 16.24, 2021. The same error message is generated. Yet MS Word shows a template output header and footer etc but no project content. I see that this thread had a last post in April  2016!! As this function does not work as of June 2023, I assume that it has not been addressed by Adobe?

I'm having the same issue. Running Captivate 8.0.1.242 on Mac Yosemite. Word for Mac 2011, with all current patches. Tried opening the template files first in Word as suggested in another thread, but no love there either.

This is really frustrating, since I have to present a paper copy to a manager by week's end. I may have to resort to screenshots.

If I can add a mini-rant, VikramGaur‌‌, this seems like a long-standing issue since the release of Cap8. I'm going to find it hard to justify the nearly $500 upgrade cost to Cap9, when the current version seems broken in many ways. Let's see a free 8.5 bug-squash release!

As we say in Australia...you've got two chances of this happening.

The "workaround" didn't work... neither did installing the update. This is the buggiest release I've encountered since I began using Captivate back in '05. Do they have a QA team? Have they all been sacked? Just curious.

That said, does anyone have a solution for something as simple as PRINTING? (Sad, Adobe... very sad.)

    Hello,

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

Which version of MS Word are you using on your MAC ?

As a testing, can you please try using Adobe Captivate 8 on your "root" account of this this MAC ?

    Thanks,
