Question

Captivate 8 not responding

Hi, I got a new PC (Windows & pro 64 bit) so  I am using C8 64 bit. The programme does not respond when creating a new project from PPoint ( 2013). It starts adding the slides but then just hangs after importing the slides. I had to end the process twice because it was noit responding.

Any ideas what might be causing the problem? It was working fine when I was using the 32 bit with PPoint 2010.

Thanks

When you are importing slides from Powerpoint you can select which slides to import or not.

I suggest you try importing smaller groups of slides, maybe 10 at a time, to see if there is perhaps an issue with resources on your computer that is causing this.

Or it could even be that there is something about one of the slides you are trying to import that causes Captivate to stall.  So if you only import groups of slides and other groups seem to import OK, then you can narrow it down further on the group that does not import.

Thanks for the suggestion Rod. Coincidentally, the number of slides I was trying to import were 10 and they were not loaded with heavy multimedia items. Just simple text slides. By tinkering around with the importing process, I copied the presentation to my local drive instead of importing it from the network drive. And it worked. I suspect there was something with the permissions or network policies that was preventing me from finishing the process, but it never happened before. Anyhow, i was able to resolve the issue.

Thanks so much for the tip.

    Cheers,
