Question

Captivate 8 or 9 and Moodle 2.9.2

I would appreciate advice about using recent versions of Captivate with Moodle,

  • Anyone know of an up-to-date step-by-step example of using Moodle to present an interactive Captivate as an activity in a Moodle course?
  • Best to publish in SWF or HTML5?
  • Any advantages to using Captivate 9 rather than 8.1?
  • Any advantages of using older Moodle versions to be able to use previously available Moodle add ons?

Our Captivate projects are currently in V8 but could be upgraded to V9. No quizzes or scoring required by the projects. Tracking slide views and Captivate lesson completion is desirable.

Using SCORM with Adobe Captivate and Moodle:

  1. Turn on SCORM reporting in Adobe Captivate.
    1. Go to "Quiz Preferences"
    2. Select "Enable Reporting"
    3. Select SCORM 1.2
    4. Leave other options at default (optional)
  2. Publish the Captivate tutorial with the "Zip Files" option checked.
  3. Go to the Moodle site and add a "SCORM/AICC Activity."
  4. Add a name and description for the activity
  5. Click the "Choose or Upload File" button to add the SCORM package.
  6. Click the "Upload a File" button and Browse to the Zipped SCORM package you published with Captivate.
  7. Click the "Choose" option once the zip file has been uploaded.
  8. Leave the other options as default. Once you get things working I would recommend playing around to see how the different options affect the activity. You'll need to find the correct combination of settings that will work for your situation.
  9. Click "Save and Return to Course" and test the activity. You may need to login as a student to ensure that scores are tracked in Moodles grade book.

This comes from: eLearning Blender: Using SCORM with Adobe Captivate and Moodle  I've successfully done this with Captivate 9 (with a few tweaks - listed below), although i do not currently have any courses with Quiz's to test the grade book functionality in moodle.  I have done SWF & HTML5 - however some browsers will not render the HTML5 course...and SWF doesn't load on any IPads/iPhones due to the adobe flash requirement.

Clicking Configure for SCORM will give you this screen to complete

Once those options are set, you can publish (File/Publish) with the *.zip files option checked.

Im open to others experiences with this and suggestions as well.

Want to warn you that this is a very old thread (2015). I'm not sure that this user is still around, cannot help you with Moodle myself. Maybe you should try the Moodle support?
