Captivate 8 Preview HTML5 not working in Browser

I used to be able to view my project in IE browser, but within the last few days, it has stopped working. Now, the little spinner spins without playing the project.

Also, while it's generating, it starts Media Encoder and starts encoding a file automatically.

I tried researching what file the Media Encoder is encoding, but it's unclear.

It used to work a few days ago. The only things that has changed was adding a couple more videos and when the IT updated the IE browser.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to get HTML5 preview working again?

Hi, everyone,

I was dealing with this very same problem (I'm using Captivate 9), and I solved it by changing the player skin (for the video, not the whole project). I used clearSkin3 and it worked! It also works with coronaSkin3.

I hope that works for you guys.

I was experiencing the same issue on my Mac OSX el Capitan 10.11.5, with Captivate 8.0.1.242. I came to the forums for answers but could not find one. In these situations I attempt to narrow down the problem by hiding slides or groups of slides then attempt to preview. I was able to narrow down to one slide, when hidden, my project would preview fine in HTML5.

Solution: Deleted audio from slide, previewed, and worked. Opened audio file in a free editing software and re-saved.

No idea why a single audio file would cause an issue. I started by deleting all my objects on the slide and that didn't work. Just removed and audio and viola!

Recommend to update to 8.0.3.

What version of IE do you have now?

Be SURE you have the latest CP8 patch (8.0.1.242):

Adobe Captivate Help | Adobe Captivate 8 patch

That help?

Actually, IT just updated our computers with IE 11.

Also my Captivate version # is 8.0.2.226

Some updates on this issue. Preview in Browser works, but Preview in HTML5 doesn't work anymore.

A previously saved file from 2 weeks ago still runs in HTML5, something I've done in the last 2 weeks has made the Preview in HTML5 stop working.

I tried searching to see what things make the HTML5 stop working.

Hmm, sorry, wish I could make more suggestions!

If your previous version works in IE11 but the new one does not then, yup, sounds like something in the file... I don't know what would cause that issue though...

What changed between the two? Addition of a large video file? Audio? Effects? Quiz slides?

If you copy your newer version and delete a slide/feature, republish, test...that may help narrow down the cause at least.

Good luck!
