Captivate 8 - quiz - continue button appears when quiz is incorrect; only supposed to show when minimum answers are correct.

I have a Captivate 8 quiz I've been struggling with - having several issues, but I'll deal with this one first.  Right now the issue is the Continue button.  It is only supposed to appear when the quiz answers are correct (70% required to "continue").  When the correct answers fall below the 70% minumum, the Retake Quiz button appears, however so does the Continue button.  Is there a solution for this?  BTW, the button is my button, a smart shape I made and use as a Continue button.

The standard Continue button on the Quiz Results slide always appears right from the beginning of that slide.  You cannot time it to appear late, or show/hide it with Advanced Actions.  One option you DO have is to hide it underneath one of the other buttons (e.g. the retake quiz button).  Just place it right over the top of the Continue button.  Then the learner cannot see it until they've either passed the quiz or exhausted their attempts.

RodWard, I am attempting to follow your suggestion.  I cannot seem to put a shape over the continue button on either the

quiz results slide or master slide view.  It goes underneath on both?

New user here and I am using captivate 9.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

All embedded objects on question slides (those that do not have a timeline) are always on top of the stack, there is no way to put something over them. Sometimes, but not consistently, you can force it by putting a shape on a slide before the question slide, hide that shape in Output (eye icon on its Properties panel at top left), then show it On Enter (Actions tab for slide) for the Question slide. I have been showing this behavior in this article:

Did you delete the Continue button on the Score Slide? That is a bad idea: the actions specified in the Quiz Settings, both for Success and for Failure will be executed only when this Continue button is clicked. You have to be very careful with deleting objects on question/score slides that are embedded in the slides because most of them have their functionality and if you delete them you lose it.  Can you give more details about your work flow?

I have the original Continue button hidden - I dragged it off the stage. The Continue button I am using is a smart shape being used as a button; the action set for it is, "Go to  the next slide."  The quiz itself has a setting of, "Answer all - the user must answer every question to continue."   I've tried, "Pass required - the user must pass this quiz to continue," however that does not change the fact that the Continue button is there when the quiz is failed. I've tried using the original Continue button, however when clicked that does nothing except cause part of the background to disappear.

The quiz has 10 questions, then a review of the score; clicking Continue at this page takes you to a certificate window if you've passed the quiz; if you fail the quiz, clicking the Retake Quiz button brings you back to the beginning to try again, with a limit of 5 attempts.  The Retake Quiz button disappears when you've passed the test.  Both the original Continue button and the one I made from a smart shape appear whether you've passed the quiz or not.
