Captivate 8 Quiz Result Prematurely Grades Quiz

I have a 48-module training curriculum created in Captivate 8 and hosted on Absorb LMS.

If I check Show Score at the End of Quiz the Quiz result slide is can be navigated to by advancing past the last content slide.

As soon as this is done the quiz is graded as failed and all unanswered quiz questions are graded as having not been completed.

If I hide this slide the participant has no score at the end of the presentation.

How can I do the following:

  1. Allow a learner to skip a question until later.
  2. Only allow the learner ONE opportunity to answer each question
  3. Only show the Quiz Result slide ONLY after the learner has attempted ALL questions
  4. Avoid the current behavior of having the Quiz graded prematurely if the learner uses the TOC to inadvertently navigate to the last quiz question and then advance to the Quiz Result slide.
  5. Allow the learner to review the quiz as normally occurs once they have attempted ALL question once.

I have searched this forum for a similar question... my apologies if I missed an previous explanation and appreciation for pointing me to that response.

Please let my know if I can supply any additional clarifying information.

Thanks in advance... KJR

As I feared.... the Submit All option does NOT allow the feedback audio to play.

Since our quiz questions are distributed throughout the content... its very confusing to the learner when the message tells them they have unanswered questions.

We may need to go back and make each quiz question visible in the TOC which we elected not to do.

Thanks for your input... any other ideas how to avoid grading the quiz until all questions have been attempted?

The only way to allow users to skip questions and come back later to them is using the Submit All feature, sorry about your audio feedback not working. It is in the name already since all answers are posted only when the user decides he is ready to submit. Moreover navigation by TOC or playbar will not be possible.

My approach to a quiz is different: I don't allow to skip questions. This means preventing navigation during quiz (possible in Quiz Preferences). In Captivate 8, where the Skip button doubles as a Next button during Review, which makes it indispensable, I drag the Next button under the Clear button. That workaround is no longer necessary in Captivate 9.  Allow one attempt on question level + preventing navigation, means that the user cannot proceed to the next question before submitting the present question. You know how to allow Review.

That work flow will provide you with all what you want, except the free navigation. The only other way is to use custom questions - which offer you total control -  but that is a lot of work.

    Use Submit All.

I'm testing that next... my concern with that is that each quiz question has audio that provides feedback if the learner get's the question wrong.

Do you know how this works if I use Submit All?

Sorry... you caught me in the middle of trying this out.

Let me finish and see if it is still a concern.

    Thanks, KJR
